The 2026 Mahindra Thar OG has officially arrived in India, bringing a major update to Mahindra’s popular three-door lifestyle SUV. Launched on September 22, 2026, the new Thar OG starts at ₹10.32 lakh (ex-showroom), while customer deliveries are scheduled to begin from October 11, 2026.

One of the biggest updates is under the skin. The new Thar OG is based on Mahindra’s M_Glyde 4G platform, which is designed to improve stiffness, stability and overall driving dynamics.
The petrol version uses the G20 TGDi mStallion engine, producing up to 119 kW and 330 Nm. The D22 mHawk diesel produces up to 111.9 kW and 330 Nm, while the D117 CRDe diesel produces 87.2 kW and 300 Nm.
For off-road driving, selected 4WD variants get an Electronic Locking Differential and dedicated Terrain Modes for mud, sand and snow.

The 2026 Thar OG gets a redesigned front grille, LED headlamps with C-shaped DRLs, LED fog lamps and updated LED tail-lamps. New R19 alloy wheels are also available on higher variants.
Inside, the SUV gets features such as a large HD touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, wireless charging and a rear-view camera, depending on the variant.
Mahindra has also focused on ride comfort. The new suspension setup includes PENTALINK suspension with Watts Link and DAVINCI Damping technology.
